To use the Emsisoft Decrypter for MRCR, you must first find a file pair to reconstruct the encryption key.
The MRCR ransomware family requires the decrypter to analyze one original file and its encrypted version side-by-side. Once the tool determines the exact math behind the encryption parameters, it can unlock the rest of your data. Phase 1: Preparation & Prerequisites
Isolate and clean your PC: Disconnect your machine from the internet. Run a thorough scan using an antivirus program to completely remove or quarantine the active MRCR ransomware payload.
Backup your files: Make a separate copy of your encrypted data onto an external drive. Decryption processes carry a small risk of file corruption, so safety is essential.
Locate a File Pair: Find one file on your system where you happen to have both the unencrypted original copy and the MRCR-encrypted version. Note: Both files must be between 64 KB and 100 MB in size. Phase 2: Key Reconstruction
Download the tool from the official Emsisoft MRCR Decrypter Page using a clean computer.
Use your mouse to highlight both files in your File Pair simultaneously.
Drag and drop the file pair directly onto the downloaded decrypter executable file (decrypt_mrcr.exe).
A window will open, and the decrypter will begin reconstructing the encryption parameters. This process can take a significant amount of time depending on your system’s hardware performance.
Once finished, a screen will display the informational message confirming the encryption details have been found. Phase 3: Decrypting Your Drives
Click Yes to accept the official software license terms that pop up. The primary Emsisoft user interface will now open.
Review the Locations list. By default, the tool pre-populates all connected hard drives and network drives.
Click the Add button if you need to manually target specific folders, or simply drag and drop folders into the window.
Go to the Options tab to review preferences (such as deciding whether to keep or automatically delete the original encrypted files after recovery). Click the Decrypt button in the bottom right corner.
Monitor the status view as it fixes your files. When it finishes, click Save log to keep a personal text record of the recovery process.
